Navigation

From Discover to Reflect

Every Saints Global badge follows the same arc — learn it, plan it, do it, then reflect on what changed.

  1. Step 1 · DISCOVER

    Discover

Learn what this badge is really about.

Explain what navigation and orienteering are, and describe why accurate navigation is essential for safety and leadership in outdoor travel. (TLX: 1.0)

Explain first aid responses for navigation-related injuries including blisters, dehydration, heat exhaustion, hypothermia, insect stings, and tick bites, and explain why environmental awareness matters. (TLX: 1.2)

  2. Step 2 · PLAN

    Plan

Get ready — gather what you need.

Explain how a compass works, identify all major parts of an orienteering compass, and explain the purpose of map declination. (TLX: 1.4)

  3. Step 3 · ACT

    Act

Do the work, in the real world.

In the field, orient a map using a compass, set and follow at least three accurate compass bearings across varied terrain. (TLX: 2.0)

  4. Step 4 · REFLECT

    Reflect

Look back and see what changed.

Review your navigation performance with a leader and explain major errors, successful decisions, and how terrain affected your choices. (TLX: 1.2)

Explain how navigation skills develop confidence, patience, and responsibility, and how these traits apply to leadership and discipleship. (TLX: 1.2)
