From Discover to Reflect

Every Saints Global badge follows the same arc — learn it, plan it, do it, then reflect on what changed.

  1. Step 1 · DISCOVER

    Discover

Learn what this badge is really about.

Explain what a projectile is and why rifles must be handled with care, respect, and used only in approved locations.

Explain universal firearm safety rules, proper hygiene practices while shooting, and the role of eye and hearing protection.

Summarize local and state firearm and hunting laws relevant to rifles, including legal wildlife and lawful locations.

  2. Step 2 · PLAN

    Plan

Get ready — gather what you need.

Identify the main parts of a rifle and cartridge and explain their functions using diagrams or inert training aids.

Create a personal range readiness plan covering gear, behavior, command compliance, and stress control.

Explain rifle malfunctions (misfire, hangfire, squib) and describe the correct immediate response under range procedure.

  3. Step 3 · ACT

    Act

Do the work, in the real world.

Under certified supervision, demonstrate flawless range conduct from arrival through departure, including command compliance and safe transitions.

    • Arrive with proper protective equipment fitted correctly
    • Follow all commands immediately without prompting
    • Maintain safe muzzle direction during all movements
    • Unload, clear, and bench the rifle exactly as instructed

Demonstrate the five fundamentals of rifle shooting—aiming, breath control, hold control, trigger control, and follow-through—during live fire.

    • Dry-fire each fundamental before live rounds
    • Explain which fundamental failed after a missed shot
    • Apply instructor feedback between groups

Fire multiple supervised shot groups from a supported position and demonstrate the ability to analyze grouping and make or explain sight adjustments.

    • Fire initial groups to establish a baseline
    • Explain what the group indicates about sight alignment
    • Either adjust sights or correctly explain the adjustment process
    • Fire confirmation groups showing improvement or consistency

Demonstrate safe rifle cleaning and storage practices using approved materials and procedures.

    • Explain cleaning order and safety checks
    • Use correct tools without damaging equipment
    • Demonstrate safe storage or transport principles
  4. Step 4 · REFLECT

    Reflect

Look back and see what changed.

Explain how restraint, obedience to rules, and patience affected your safety and performance on the range.

Describe how responsible rifle handling reflects stewardship of life, law, and God-given agency, and identify one future pathway (hobby or career) where these skills apply.
